How to submit to Building Cultural Legacies.
Building Cultural Legacies is a community sourced archive and digital storytelling platform that would not be possible without the engagement of local artist, institution and community member submissions. If you know of an artist or related organization active in Hamilton between 1950-2000, we welcome you to submit images and stories on their work!
Step One
To begin with the submission process, collect at least five images in gif, jpeg, or png format that are between 500kb to 4MB in size. The project is looking to present high quality images, and any file under 500kb will probably not best represent the work. If you need assistance with producing quality digital files, please contact us – we can assist!
Each image must be accompanied with some key details. Tell us a story about the image, the time it was made, and your experience working and living in Hamilton’s art world during its production. Tell us what the work is about for you. Please also provide the works date, mediums, dimensions, and any other relevant information.
Step Two
Once you have collected your images and information, proceed to the Submit Artist page. Follow the prompts to submit your files and stories. You will be asked to select tags so the images will appear through the search function on the website.
Step Three
At the bottom of the page, you will see ‘+ Add Another Work’ or ‘Submit Artist’. Please select ‘+ Add Another Work’ until you have reached the minimum requirement of five images per submission. Once you have finished, select ‘Submit Artist’ at the bottom of the page.
Step Four
Your submission has now been received! Please wait for a team member to reach out as they begin to work on your page. We appreciate your valuable contribution to Building Cultural Legacies!
